The exhibition is a collaborative project of the Research Areas “Cultural Memory Studies” & “Visual and Material Culture Studies” of the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC) and will be shown in the University Library (Otto-Behaghel-Straße 8, 35394 Gießen).  For the opening on June 25th you are invited to a vernissage beginning at 6 pm hosted by GCSC and the University Library.  Immediately following the launch party, the documentary „Szukajac Emila – Looking for Emil“ will be screened.  The documentary, prepared by filmmakers Angelika Laumer and Itamar Lerner problematizes forced labour in Bavaria under National Socialism.

In der Gießener Universitätsbibliothek (UB) ist ab dem 25. Juni 2014 die Ausstellung „Techniques of Remembering & Forgetting / Techniken des Erinnerns und & Vergessens“ zu sehen. Die Ausstellung ist ein Kooperationsprojekt der Research Areas “Cultural Memory Studies” & “Visual and Material Culture Studies” des International Graduate Centre for the Study of Cultures (GCSC) der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen. Zur Ausstellungseröffnung am 25. Juni 2014, um 18.00 Uhr laden das GCSC und die UB ein (Ausstellungsraum der Universitätsbibliothek Gießen, Otto-Behaghel-Straße 8, 35394 Gießen). Im Anschluss an die Eröffnungsfeier wird der Dokumentarfilm „Szukajac Emila – Looking for Emil“ von den Filmemachern Angelika Laumer und Itamar Lerner gezeigt, der die Erinnerung an NS-Zwangsarbeit in Bayern problematisiert.
